Junior Lifeguard Prep (About)
Splash was the Original Swim Team to Offer exclusively a Junior Lifeguard Prep program separate from Swim Team. This was done to better serve those swimmers that were specifically wanting to prepare for one of the local Junior Lifeguard Summer programs tests. Our program design is intended to pass the local tests and deliver those participants in shape for the JG summer programs.
During our program we emphasize proper stroke techniques in the Freestyle stroke also known as the front crawl.
Most of the practices in the beginning are designed to perfect proper arm pulls and recovery. Along with a proper flutter kick.
In addition to our technique work we work on Turns, Underwater swimming, and treading water.
The final part is conditioning. Most participants are not used to swimming (100 yards) 4 laps consecutively in our 25yd pool. Conditioning becomes more of an emphasis as the program develops.
Sessions 1,2: Early Start For anyone wanting an early start to preparation whether they just need more time to develop and pass test or they just want to be better prepared for the Summer programs.

Sessions 3,4: Base Prep This is our typical Junior Lifeguard program and generally takes those interested in the City program through the end of their test dates.

Sessions 5,6: Add-on For those preparing for the State JG programs through their testing.
Our program is not only designed to prepare our participants to pass the local JG tests, but also to deliver them in better shape to participate in the JG program of their Choice.
Splash Aquatics is not affiliated with any of the JG programs, but we have deep ties to both. We trained numerous athletes that have gone through these programs, many that have gone on to become Lifeguards, Instructors, as well as marine safety officers, and local Fire fighters, and leaders in those organizations.
What is the difference in our JG Prep Classes?
Groups 1,2 are for those swimmers wanting an early start before our Base Prep program begins.
Groups 3,4 are is our Base program to prepare our swimmers for the local JG tests.
Groups 5,6 is our Add-on to continue to prepare for the Summer JG program after most of the testing is done.
A Little More Information:
•Splash was one of the first USA swim teams in the area to offer a program specifically to prepare young swimmers for their JG test. We have been running our JG Prep classes for over 25 years.
•Our program maintains a very high pass rate for swimmers who attend workouts regularly.
•We train our participants with the proper freestyle technique which includes side breathing. Kids will also learn the open turn for testing; this is the fastest turn for new swimmers.
•Our training and timeline helps to prepare swimmers not only to pass their test but to stay in shape for the first day of Junior Guards.
•Splash is not affiliated with any of the local JG summer programs. We have had many swimmers and family members take part in the JG programs over the years and many of our former swimmers are now instructors.
•Our local Junior Lifeguard programs are considered some of the best in the state and we highly recommend anyone living in the area to participate in them.
